What is EMW?? The members of it are shrouded in mystery; why, for example, is Melinda Rann famous among the worlds medical fraternity? Why are xrays of her skeleton kept at major teaching universities in UK, USA , Russia, China and India?? What is the real truth of the story about wing stumps? And where does she go in her sleep?? Why does Phaedra J.Kelly wear a scarf around her throat, is it really true that she covers the scars of a bite from a savage nymphomaniac vampire? And exactly how old is she really? Why is she heralded in the folk songs of the Kurdish mountains and among the Marsh Arabs? Is it true that she is an androgyny shaman who was inducted in north eastern Russia on the steppes, killed four times to be reborn? Yes, as it happens, and Melinda is her close friend in training for something similar. Ah, but what? EMWs two transgendered personnel are a living mystery worldwide, already, who have come together with enigmatic Chris Cook, guitarist, to write and perform some of the most exciting, refreshing, challenging and in the end, revealing music and lyrics you could hear. Some of it comes directly from personal encounters and experiences by Phaedie, with the like of living zombies owned by a crippled nazi war criminal in the Spanish mountains in the 60s, or a meeting in a barren desert with a Borro Wodaabe warrior on a camel, who came and went as though he were a ghost. Melindas skill, is to capture the heat of these encounters with a freeness that makes them live all over again. But, how does she do that? Is she mortal, alien, or perhaps, just incredibly gifted by a muse unusual for ordinary human experience? Son of James & Jillian, Champion Everlast, Incomparable Inspirationalist, Em Sea Oceanic, Hip Hop Hero & Head Harbinger. Rap Veteran Cooly Haste was born & raised on the West Bank of the Medina. Inspired by The Golden Era of Hip Hop as a teenager to produce funky & conscious Hip Hop for more than 20 years. Along with Super Producer Randy Bones, Scratch Wizard DJ Mewtant & Bass Legend Max Brennan he has performed at Bestival '05, '06 & 07. They have supported Ugly Duckling & Giant Panda (twice), People Under the Stairs, The Cold Crush Brothers, Halfway House Emcees, Percee P, Peanut Butter Wolf, Gulity Simpson & Aloe Blacc. (Big Up Happy Feet & The Chancers). Godfather & leading light in the Isle of Wight Hip Hop community. Founder member of The Wight Style Collective along with Blank Beats & Born in a Barn with whom Cooly has performed at numerous live shows across the South Coast & beyond. (Nuff love to Rude Dog, Wiser Vice, Bring The Noise, Model of Society, Gleem & the whole Portsmouth & Southsea Massive). Cooly Haste has recorded & performed in the Bay Area CA with Inspector Double Negative & The Equal Positives. He has most recently collaborated with Pompey's Pimpernel Jones & Manchester's Fatman & Tropical, and continues developing his Hip Hop connections across the globe. The band have had airplay on WRYR, WMUC & WRYR (DC Area), WFMU (New York), Isle of Wight Radio and have been live in session on Portsmouth's Express 93.7 FM. In 2006 they had a track on the Bring the Noise mix CD, and a song on The Pipes Project compilation CD from Ventnor based Match My Foot Records. Right now the band are busy recording their eagerly anticipated first album, whilst continuing to perform their acclaimed dynamic live show to their ever growing fan base.
